2 Corinthians 13:14

The belief that God exists as Trinity distinguishes Christianity from other religions.

You might be surprised that the word Trinity appears nowhere in the Bible. The concept of the Trinity, however, fills the pages of Scripture. Continue reading

They began declaring the wonderful things of God in languages that they previously had not known. (Acts 2:1-13) What does it mean to be filled with the Holy Spirit? Is the Pentecost event to be repeated in some way? In this brief article, we tend to these questions. Continue reading

Are You Sure? (1 John 4:13-16)

Are you sure_

1 John 4:13-16

Pastor Alister Begg tells a story about the late playwright George Bernard Shaw. In the days when radio was relatively new in the British Isles, the playwright gave a talk on the peculiarities of the English Language. During his talk, he said there were only two words with the “sh” (s-h) sound but not spelled with a “sh” at the beginning of the word. They were not the words his followers wanted to hear, but Jesus’ forewarning came true. Continue reading

Spirit-of-Truth.jpg

John 15:26-27

The Holy Spirit is given many titles by Jesus in his farewell discourse (John 13:31-17:26). One of those titles is “the Spirit of truth” (John 14:17; 15:26; 16:13).

Many of us long for truth but are increasingly confounded by our search for it. We hit the internet, TED talks, podcasts, and maybe even – dare I say – Facebook, to find something we can hang our hat on and know it will hold. Continue reading
